  • Multitouch on Linux?

    2010 - 01.11

Windows 7 is a giant leap forward for multitouch computing. We’ve been hacking around building our own hardware and software for years (NUI Group) but Microsoft’s dramatic approach of dropping it into the core of their operating system (which doesn’t suck) has brought multitouch into focus.

Apple has take a really different approach to introducing it’s users to multitouch.  I think they’ve strategically planned to ease multitouch into their OSX operating system over a number of iterations.  In particular, Apple has used gestures and it’s iPhone OS to introduce multitouch functionality into it’s existing suite of applications and OS.

Where does this leave Linux?  Is this the redheaded stepchild of operating systems that no one cares about?  Or maybe the developers of various Linux distros  simply don’t care about natural user interfaces.

How about no, no and no.  Check out this out:

Yeah,  I know you were digging the music.  Interested in doing this yourself?  You can go get all the details about putting this together your self over at Interactive computing laboratory.
