I’ve been keeping an eye on some of the multitouch devices that have been showing their faces at CES over the past few days. (Day One and Day Two) Here I’ll continue on with Day Three:
Microsoft took center stage and Steve Ballmer gave a a keynote but suffered the continuing technical curse that seems to always plague Microsoft year after year. This time all power seems to have given out right as they were about to start their announcements (details from Gizmodo)
I think people were a bit disapointed not to see the mythically rumored Microsoft ‘Courer’
So who knows if or when this thing might show up.
What Steve Ballmer did announce was the HP slate.
Details seems to be a bit sketchy but it looks like a 10ish inch multi-touch screen running Windows 7. Due out later this year.
Fuse concept phone by Synaptics seems to be multitouch with additional tilt sensing and squeeze sensing. No one’s been able to see the UI that they are developing but here’s the press release: Synaptics Press Release and a good hands on write up via Engadget
One big CES surprise is Qualcomm’s Mirasol display that is rumored to be heading toward the Kindle. The small screen can display 1080p and could be a game changer for slate-esk devices and e-readers. The display can be paired with a multitouch screen but it would result in a dimer screen. Get more details over at Engadget.
As before, I’m sure I’ve missed the majority of the Multitouch devices at CES so hit us up in the comments and help us out. Thanks!
