    2010 - 01.07

Multitouch is the new hotness.  Would you seriously be reading a blog called ‘Multitouchup’ if you thought otherwise?

Now that Microsoft has blessed us with a multitouch capable operating system we are starting to see a boom of multitouch capable consumer electronic devices.  Almost every annoncement at the 2010 CES has some hidden multitouch feature so I don’t think it’s really even possible for me to keep up with all of this.  But here’s what I’m seeing so far on Day One:

Light Touch from Light Blue Optics is a 10-inch multitouch pico laser projector.  With HLP (holographic laser projection) and WVGA resolution, this little projector seems targeted for business and retail environments.  I’m guessing it’s pricey.  It runs Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 which means that they hacked the multitouch.  I’m guessing this is a skip.  Details at Gizmodo

IdeaPad U1 Hybrid from Lenovo is a hybrid laptop / touchscreen slate.  The laptop hides a resistive 11.6 inch mutlitouch screen that when removed switches to run Lenovo’s own ‘Skylight’ user interface.   Looks to be pretty prereleaseish.  Hands on review over at Engadget

The M2256PW from 3M is a 22 inch multitouch screen that supports up to 10 fingers.  The display hosts a normal 1680×1050 and doesn’t appear to have an HDMI port.  Engadget has a great hands on review where they explain that you can actually put down 20 greasy fingerprints on this bad boy.  At $1500.00 there better be a really compelling reason to have all of those additional finger inputs.

The TouchSmart tm2 from HP is a second generation 12.1 inch multitouch laptop.  HP has been a leader in the consumer multitouch device space and looks to continue with this TouchSmart laptop due out on January 17th for $949.  (take note anyone who is lugging around the current generation desktop version of the TouchSmart for presentaions :) )  Nice bumbslide user interface as well as a few other improvements to the TouchSmart software suite.  Nice review at Gizmodo

Or go really light weight with the HP Mini 5102.  This 10 inch model has an optional capacitive multitouch screen.  More details via Gizmodo

The Wind Top AE2420 from MSI is an all in one option.  Kind of like desktop HP TouchSmart systems.  The system boasts a 23.6 inch screen and 1080p resolution.  The AE2420 starts at $1199.  More at Gizmodo

Lastly, and maybe most interestingly, Intel has an amazing CES only 2xHD multitouch wall that is powered by a single i7 processor.  This is strictly conference eye candy but wow is it perrrdy.  Link to Gizmodo

I’m sure I missed at least half of the announcements.  So please help me fill in the blanks on what I’ve missed by posting comments.  Thanks!
